Lots left to do..with little time to do it! We found this new construction several weeks ago. I have been able to pick out a lot of the goods. It's been fun/ interesting/ busy! Heading there this weekend to make a few more decisions.

While Rhett has been in Jonesboro (and visiting a different state everyday for recruiting), the boys and I have been busy here in Bham. We have been showing the house like crazy! I am hoping that keeping a "show ready" home with two toddlers pays off SOON! It's been challenging... Not to mention having to leave for extended amounts of time (most of the time during naps) while people look. This weekend alone, the house was shown once Friday, once today and will be shown three times tomorrow. Its worth it though- especially if we have some interest. : )

Yesterday, the boys and I left the house just in time for the sky to open up. It was a complete downpour while I loaded them into the cart. I forgot my rain jacket, but at least they had theirs, right?! And yes, THE cutest rain jackets ever... courtesy of Aunt Sissy (older sister Lindsey).

T:"Just ignore her and maybe she'll stop taking pics." Hud:"Mom, you are embarrassing me."

Today, we shopped around Homewood with our friend Stephanie. The boys were needing some new shoes.. I couldn't resist these New Balances. We bought them at Sikes in Homewood. Their service is incredible and the boys were fitted perfectly. I highly recommend them! Just as I thought, T was a 6 1/2 WIDE (thanks dad). He really needed an extra wide, but they didn't have it so we stuffed his feet in the wide. Hud was a 6 Reg. Can't believe how big their feet are!! Sad to see the shoes they have already outgrown. : (

In other news, the boys are getting all 4 molars in at once. They are still sleeping through the night (so thankful for that), but I can definitely tell a difference in their disposition during the day. It looks so painful- so glad we don't remember teething!! Wish I could take away their pain... hard to see them so pitiful.

Makeover Monday- Fresh face for 2012

After the boys were born, I noticed a few dark patches on my face.. also known as Pregnancy Mask. This is very common when hormonal changes occur. Some people don't notice this slight discoloration while some have drastic dark spots. While you can't really see mine with makeup on, it is something I have been self conscious about. A few months ago I decided to visit a Dermatologist here in Birmingham. She put me on two different topicals and I have already noticed a huge difference. My skin is almost completely even again. I have always been a sunscreen supporter, but there are so many out there and a lot of them aren't really helping as much as you think.

So to start the new year off right... PROTECT!! In my case, correct and protect! : )
Here is the one I am using and it has really been protecting while I am correcting my skin. You want one that has all-physical, broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection (contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide). The one I use is by SkinCeuticals. It is sheer (goes right into skin) and great for sensitive skin.

I highly recommend everyone seeing a dermatologist once a year. I had a small area of concern in my hairline (which turned out to be benign) and I believe its good to go get checked regularly. Dermatologists are the best.

On to makeup:

I recently discovered a new foundation that I LOVE. It is by Makeup Forever and there are about 1,000 shades... ok, maybe 25... but they are sure to have your perfect match. It is an oil free, lightweight formula and glides on flawlessly. I can't stand the feeling of makeup on my face and this makes me feel like I am totally bare. Especially after I dust my favorite loose powder on top. It's of course by Laura Mercier.

I know I have already raved about this lip gloss... but really, I love Makeup Forever Lip Gloss. I recently got a new shade (S14) and I'm obsessed... It looks really dark in the tube, but its a beautiful, sheer, shade of purple. They have lots of shades to choose from though. I recommend testing them on your hand because sometimes the color in the tube can be deceiving. The formula isn't too sticky like a lot of glosses and it stays on well. They also have a nice taste. : )

There is nothing better than a bronzer in the dead of winter. It slightly (when used correctly) warms up your face when you need it most. I use Dune Bronze by who else... LM.

To use, lightly sweep across your forward (into hairline at well), down the bridge of your nose and chin. Sweep under your cheek bones focusing mostly right next to your ears to add definition to your cheek bones. Add blush to your cheeks and you are ready to go!!

House Hunting

The past few days have been a blur. On Sunday, we (me, boys and dogs) loaded up and headed to my dads (Heber Springs, AR). It's about a 6 hour drive from Birmingham. On the way there, I was making great timing- until I got turned around in Memphis... If you have been through Memphis, you know it's not really a place you want to get turned around... especially driving alone with two small children. Somehow I ended up missing my exit ( I was on the phone; ) ), but I found a couple county roads that brought me back to where I needed to be (thank you Jesus). I tacked on about an hour to our trip though. On Monday, my dad and step mom watched the boys for me while I drove over to Jonesboro to look at a few houses. It's about a 2 hour drive for those who obey traffic signs. I made it somewhere between 1.5 -1.75. It's hard to follow the speed limit when you can see for miles on those eastern Arkansas roads. Miles and miles of crop fields. It is also very appropriate to pass those who are following the speed limit. If you are one of the ones I blew off the road over the past few days- I do not apologize. I do not have time to waste. : ) After several hours of driving all over Jonesboro, I came back to Heber that night. I was just in time to tuck my little men in bed. Tuesday, I did the same. Down and back. I am so thankful to Jeanie and my dad for helping me out with them. It was Jeanie's birthday on Tuesday, so she spent her big day watching the boys for me. I attempted looking at a house with the boys and it just didn't work. This gave me much more freedom. This morning, we headed back to Bham. I left a little earlier so we could get here earlier. This leg of the trip was so much easier. One stop- sonic in Tupelo. It was nascar style as well. I ordered our food (grilled cheese sandwiches- the boys favorite) and changed the boys while we waited for our food. Yes, I was the person changing their kids in the back of her car in the sonic parking lot. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Our food was brought and I distributed the goods on our way out of the parking lot. 7 min tops. I decided that the drive home is so much easier than the ride there. Leaving Birmingham, you are on interstate until Memphis. Once you hit Memphis its madness all around. Merging, exiting, construction, semi's EVERYWHERE.. then it's on to the crop fields (see the above comments) and then on to the windy, curvy roads from Bald Knob (yes, that's a town) to Heber (about an hour of windy roads to be exact- in the dark for the first leg of the trip). So on the way home, you get the hard part out of the way. Once you leave Memphis, you are home free. The drive is smooth and easy. I also didn't get turned around this time so we made great timing. Just in time to put the boys down for a nap. I unpacked, started washing clothes and now I plan to do nothing for several days. A total of 21 hours driving from Sunday to Wednesday. Whew.. glad it's over.

About the houses, I researched like crazy before I left. I sent the houses I had found to our agent in Jonesboro and she said she would research a little more and send others that she found. She sent an email back saying that I had done my homework because she didn't have any to add. Ha. No surprise there since I have been stalking the real estate market for a few weeks. On Sunday, I had narrowed it down to 3 that I knew I wanted to see. On Monday, it was down to 2 after seeing them. Then on Tuesday, our agent showed us another one... then I was confused. Rhett joined us for an hour or two to see the 2 I liked and the new one we had found. He quickly crossed off one (due to location mainly). Now we are debating between two. Both are great houses and there are things that I love about them both. There are also some negatives to both, so we will really be weighing our options over the next few days. I am ready to be there, but I want it to be the right place for sure. In the meantime, Rhett is in Jonesboro (and all over really) recruiting his little heart out. We will probably both be back and forth until we make the final move. That's what the Lashlee's are up to these days!!

Hopefully soon I will post pics of our new house. Until then, it will probably be just sweet babies. : )

Tribute to 2011

I have had trouble with blogger the past couple of days (uploading pics etc.). It finally got its act together late last night...

Here is a recap of our year:

This past year has been pretty eventful. It started with a National Championship. We traveled to Phoenix, AZ with our 4 month old twins for the Auburn vs. Oregon National Championship game.

After a good cry and overwhelming joy from a VERY eventful season...

A few days later, Rhett was in Birmingham as the Offensive Coordinator at Samford University. Within a few weeks, we found a house, closed in record time and then packed up and headed to Birmingham to join Rhett.

I feel extremely blessed to call this man my husband. Can't imagine not being by his side.

In the middle of all the football excitement, my dad won the ASGA Senior Amateur. My dad is a rockstar. He was also just named Arkansas Sportsman of the Year. I am one proud daughter!

Relief.

While my dad was kicking booty on the golf course, we celebrated the boys first birthday.

Thankful for this year I have had as their momma.

A big milestone to remember....

Shortly after their 1st birthday, we had full time walkers. Life just got interesting.

To keep things interesting, we just happened to play Auburn this year. What a turn of events. I have to say, we held our own. : )

New job and a new state. The natural state. Better yet, home.

Rhett is the Offensive Coordinator for Arkansas State. We will be heading to Jonesboro as soon as we find a house! If anyone is looking for a home in Bham, I know a good one!! : ) Oh, and our opening game is at Oregon. Oh, the irony.

3 jobs in one year... Auburn, Samford and now Arkansas State. It's been eventful for sure! We are so thankful for the opportunities and new adventures to come. Thankful that God continues to guide and direct our paths. It's all for Him!

2011 has been a great year for our family. We look forward to all the new memories to come.

15 Month Stats

Before we left for NWA for Christmas, the boys had their 15 month check up. Dad was recruiting so mom had the joy of comforting two screaming boys after 4 shots a piece. Oh the joys... They did great though. A few tears, but once I wrapped them in my arms, they calmed down pretty quick.

Here are their stats:

Hudson Rhett

Length: 31 1/2in

Weight: 23.5 lb

Head Circ: 18 1/4 in

Hud was pretty much 50th in everything.

Thomas Price

Length: 33 in

Weight: 26 lb

Head Circ: 18 1/4 in

T was 75th-90th in everything.

Both wearing 18-24 month clothing and size 6 shoe. Large feet like their daddy.

Both boys are doing great. Repeating a lot of words- still a lot of babble too. Their favorite words are touchdown and football. Very appropriate. : ) They are running all over the place 90-to-nothing.... and INTO EVERYTHING. I can't take my eyes off of them for a second.

I am amazed more and more everyday by the amount of love I have for these two. Hudson has the best personality. He is so outgoing (non-stop talker) and is a natural born leader. Hmmmm.... like his daddy much?? I think so. He has a sweet tender heart as well. Rarely is there a moment that he is sitting still, but I steal hugs and kisses when I can. He pushes the limits very frequently ; ) , but his little grin and the sparkle in his big blue eyes make it impossible to stay upset with him very long. Recently, he has become more skeptical of new people and takes a few minutes to warm up... but once he does he is his normal vivacious self. Thomas is definitely more of a cuddle bug. He loves his daddy... it is so sweet. He is our silent leader but voices his opinion when he wants everyone to listen up. Thomas has not met a stranger and will go up to anyone and reach for them to pick him up (mom says I was this way). He will be the person who trusts everyone (sounds like his Poppy : ) ). His smile lights up the room... with one dimple like his daddy.

It is so funny how different they both are... night and day. My love for them is equal but for many different reasons. This mommas love is immeasurable. Only moms can know a love and bond this strong. I am so grateful and blessed to be their momma.

Both boys are HUGE daddy "dada" fans. I am so thankful for that. He hangs the moon in this house every night. : )

So thankful for my 3 boys. I love them more than anything.

Merry Christmas from the Lashlee Family!!

We have been going nonstop since we got here in nwa. I'm sure we won't get to see everyone we want to see, but we have been surrounded by our family and that's what truly matters! This holiday season I am overwhelmed with a very thankful heart. My family is healthy and happy. The holidays aren't always the most joyous time of the year for everyone and for some, its a very painful time. As we celebrate Christmas tomorrow, I wanted to remind everyone what the true reason for the season is.

It's the day our savior was born. He entered the world as an innocent and blameless baby. His life would not be easy and he would suffer immensely, but he would lived a life pleasing to his Father. In his final days, he knew what was to come. He gave his life on the cross for us. The ultimate sacrifice. With his final breathe, he loved and he forgave.

Let us remember this year and every year that Christmas is our Saviors birthday.

Arkansas State press conference Rhett Lashlee

Rhett will be the Offensive Coordinator for Arkansas State University. Although God has been preparing me for some time, it doesn't make it easy. The 10 months we have spent here in Birmingham have been so great. We love our church and the friends we have made. We have been surrounded by great people. Samford University was so great to us- the people could not have been more friendly or more supportive. We have been truly blessed to be part of such a special program and place. Rhett and I have both cried a few times (ok, me a lot) because we both have BIG hearts and when we love, we love hard. Saying goodbye to his fellow coaches and players was extremely difficult for Rhett. We do know that God has called us to move on... but as we go, we will remember this place and the people that made it so special. I know that there are more memories to make and more people to meet. We are excited that God has given us another great opportunity. It doesn't hurt that we are much closer to our families as well. : ) Thank you for the sweet comments some of you have already posted. I have been waiting to say something until Rhett's press conference today. Look out ARKANSAS, here we come!!

Meeting Santa

Yesterday, we loaded up and went to the Zoo Light Safari at the Birmingham Zoo. Every year they have lights, train rides, lots of fun activities and of course, Santa is present. The boys had never met Santa, so I was a little nervous to see how they acted. They did just fine and he didn't seem to phase them at all. Since I am a terrible photographer, I only took a couple pics.. at least I took a couple though, right?! With all the crap we have to lug around with these two, a camera is just an added annoyance. BUT I brought it and I'm glad we captured this moment. Rhett got a little video of it as well... you can hear his dorky self in the background. Gotta love it... the things you'll say and do to get your kids to smile.

Christmas Tree Skirt Project

Rhett was on the road this past week recruiting so I filled my days with babies and my nights with projects to keep me preoccupied. The wreath (in my previous post) was my first project... now for the Christmas Tree Skirt. I always see really cute ones online, but they are way overpriced (in my opinion). I wanted one that was contemporary but still neutral and not too funky. I chose a linen fabric and used a stencil for the geometric pattern. I went with a gold paint to pull the golds from our tree. I will say that fabric paint (I used the spray kind) is harder to use than I thought. My stencil doesn't lay completely flat and the paint is thicker so I made a huge mess... It's definitely not perfect and I messed up in a few spots.. which was placed in the back of the tree. : ) Anyway, here is the final product. I am not loving the gold border I originally chose, so I am going to add some kind of fringy tassel or something to make a bolder statement. I was originally thinking minimalistic, but the skirt needs a little oomph.

Since I do not own a sewing machine and have not a clue how to sew... I used fabric glue.
Worked like a charm.

See... gold border... not so great. Will be changing soon.

Wreath Makeover

Yes, I completely demolished it. Taking the massive amounts of moss off took forever... but I am too cheap to buy another grapevine wreath. : )

I didn't particularly like it the first time around anyway, so I didn't mind destroying it.

I saw this idea here on pinterest. The fabrics she used are way cuter than mine, but I still did a similar color scheme. I wanted to make one that was holiday-ish and not too Christmas-y so it would make it through the entire winter. I'm sure I will get bored with it and re-do it before too long though. Anyway, I will say this wreath was much harder than I anticipated. The fabric flowers are a pain in the REAR to make. Luckily I used fabric glue... because if I had used hot glue, I would have burned my fingertips off. I didn't mind peeling the glue off my hands. I was that kid in Elementary school who covered her hands in Elmers glue so she could peel it off. Guilty.

I also added new plants to my stands. My mums kicked the bucket.

Aren't the little red flowers presh... they are like mini pansys.

I also added yellow pansys to my large planters. My potato vines would not have made it through the winter.

I am currently working on a tree skirt-- will be posting pics soon!! It's become quite the project as well. Much harder than I had intended...

Happy late Thanksgiving to everyone!!

Our Thanksgiving was very eventful... some good memories.... and then some not so great. We went down to Auburn to spend it with good friends. Won't go into details, but it ended up being a stressful day for our little family. We are all fine and well though... that's all that matters.

Anyway, on to the point of this post!! I wanted to share a few things I am most thankful for. The first few are in order... the rest are pretty random. : )

First and foremost- My faith. I have been forgiven. Jesus paid the price. I have been set free from the chains of sin. For that, I am most thankful.

My husband. I have not met a greater man. He is my soul mate and without him, I would not be complete. He is everything that I am not. I am truly humbled to have such a God fearing, hard working, incredibly loving father and leader for this family.

My precious boys, Thomas and Hudson. They have shown me a love that I didn't know existed. Because of them, my heart is overflowing with joy.

Not only am I thankful for my boys, but I am thankful God chose me to be their momma. My love grows for them every day.

My Mom and dad. I am who I am because of you. Thank you for loving me, always leading by example and sharing Christ's love with me.

My sisters- I miss you all more than you know... I am a different person when I am around y'all. Like a little kid in a candy store. I get giddy and giggly. 100% Laurby.

Rhett's Parents (My mom and dad #2)- Thank you for always giving so unselfishly.. whether its watching the boys so I can hop in the shower or watching them for the weekend so I can go on a road game, you have been there without hesitation. For that, I am truly grateful. Thank you for raising the Godly man who I call my husband.

My friends- who have loved, listened and been there through every tear and laugh. You know who you are.

I am thankful for my husbands job. It is not just a job, but a ministry. It's an opportunity to make an impact on young men's lives.

This goes with the above.... but I am extremely thankful to be able to stay at home with my boys. It definitely has its challenges, but I am just thankful for the opportunity.

Our pastor, Chris Hodges & church family (Church of the Highlands). I am challenged by you... which is exactly what I need and want. So thankful for your humility, honesty and heart for Christ.

Another blessing... Our wonderful babysitter Lauren who comes and relieves me from time to time so I can get away for a bit. She has been a life saver.

I am thankful for our armed forces who risk their lives every day for us. Not only for them, but for their families whose strength I am completely blown away by. Thank you for all that you do.

Goes along with the above- I am thankful to live in a free country... we are all blessed beyond comprehension.

I am thankful for my 5 senses. This is something that most of us do not appreciate enough.

For the things that we often take for granted- water, food, shelter, clothing, a bed... I do not thank God enough for these things. Lord, remind me daily of these blessings we so easy take for granted!!!!

For mine and my families health.

The earth in all of its beauty...rain & rainbows, sunsets, thunderstorms, the ocean and mountains, the different seasons... Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. It keeps things new and exciting. I like change. If you look and listen closely, you can see and hear God in all of these things.

Good movies and books.... The Notebook, The Help, Twilight (Lame I know).

There are so many things I could go on and on about... but I will stop there.

We are so thankful to have daddy home for a little bit. He has been a huge help to me the past few days. : )

Samford vs. Auburn

Yesterday, we traveled down to the plains to a very familiar scene... but this time we sat on the visitor side... something that was very foreign to me. For the past two years, we were Auburn Tigers. We dressed in orange and blue and chanted all the chants. This year, we wore red. This year, Rhett stood across the field from the coaches who he stood next to for the past two years. He also stood across from his mentor and his former high school coach Gus Malzahn who he played for at Shiloh Christian... later coaching for at him Springdale High School and then on to Arkansas and Auburn as his Graduate Assistant. Although Rhett learned a lot from him, he has a few of his own tricks up his sleeve. ; ) Rhett is that person who never had to study- you know, the brilliant kind. Valedictorian and Chancellor's list kid etc... Well, he is not only brilliant off the field, but on the field as well...a blessing and ability that only God can give. I knew in the first conversation that Rhett and I had in Astronomy back in '03 that God had big plans for Rhett... and 8 years later, I still firmly believe that. I am excited to see how God is going to use him in the future.

The game was very exciting (for us anyway). After a few downs, we knew that we could hang with Auburn. During 3rd quarter it was 14-13 Auburn. 4th quarter took a little turn, with Auburn winning 35-16. Of course there are the shoulda coulda woulda thoughts...but we are so proud of our boys. They fought hard and did not quit. I think fans can see a difference in the confidence in our team this year... or at least I have been told that. The overall moral at the school and among the students is completely different as well. There is a new excitement about Samford Football. Our coaches also deserve a lot of praise. They worked around the clock to prepare these kids- and they did their jobs well. We were all very happy with the outcome.

First, I never mentioned what stroller we ended up going with... I researched this thing like I was buying a car- sheesh!! Really, not that big of a deal Lauren.

This is the Mia Moda Twin Facile. It does exactly what I was wanting it to do... Get in and out of places quickly. While it's not the Cadillac of strollers, I do like it and it does serve its purpose. We will continue to use our "Cadillac" when the boys are strapped in for an extended amount of time.

On another note- A much needed update on the boys... Well, lets start with--- THEY ARE INTO EVERYTHING. They are climbing, running, wild maniacs (to put it lightly). They are little schemers... no lie, they are geniuses. If they can't reach something, they will pull their little chairs over to get to whatever they want. I have watched. They are little holy terrors. Cute ones at that... just look. This is what they do every. single. day.

What? Did we do something?? Are you mad?

Currently, Hud has a stomach virus... or something to that extent. I opened the door to their room this morning and I was greeted with an overwhelming aroma of vomit. You know that smell... its unmistakable.... unavoidable. Makes me yack just thinking about it. Chunks were involved... and I'll leave it at that. Poor guy was covered- he had rolled in it and slept in it- not making a PEEP! What in the world!!?? I would protested--- ALL NIGHT! Not him, he was all smiles and giggly when I walked in. He hasn't eaten much all day, but proceeded to throw up again at dinner. Poor little guy. Anyway, hopefully it will be gone tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Please Lord Jesus... let him be healed!

Other than the fact that they are into everything, they are yammering more than ever. They repeat words I say occasionally. They have the "touchdown" sign down (dada's proud) and even say it at times... but it sounds more like "Duh Dow". It's presh. Naps are a hit and miss. Some days they take 2- 1 hr-1.5hr naps. Other days 2- 45min ones. They still aren't quite ready for just one. I have tried a few times and they whine and their little faces droop and well... they get sent to their crib. Enough of that for this momma!

As for me, I went to the chiropractor last week for the first time in over a year. Best adjustment of my life. Every single bone in my body adjusted... from my neck down to my hips. It was heavenly.... for a few days. Then my days of carrying two 25lbs objects around all day (even at the same time a lot) took its toll. Back out... lovely. I went again today, not gonna lie- my neck feels worse than it did before the adjustment. My body hates me right now. Advil is my friend.

For my hubs... well he's a celeb in our house these days. Here is a great article on him in todays paper. Proud of him. Oh, and to wrap our season up, we play Auburn this weekend... I know, I know... giggle giggle... not funny. We really only care about the fact that Samford had a winning season this year!! First time since '08!! We beat a lot of odds... and the guys fought hard all year long. Rhett is really proud of them.

1. I bought a 1/2 dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme while my inlaws were in town this weekend. Rhett had already gone to work and they left shortly after... therefore I ended up eating 5 of them.

2. I love that they glaze their chocolate donut before adding the chocolate. Can't stand it when other companies just do chocolate... the glaze totally makes it!

3. I cry every time to the new Hallmark commercial. You know... the one where the father (a soldier) receives a Charlie Brown Christmas book from his kids...and they recorded their voices reading the book.. gets me every time.

4. I am currently obsessed with "Once Upon A Time". It's a new show on Sunday nights. It takes me back to my childhood with all the different storybook characters.

5. Ready for football season to wrap up. I'm ready to have daddy back... to relieve me some... for a little bit anyway... then my independence will kick back in and I gladly send him on the recruiting trail. : )

6. I HATE daylight savings. What is the point.. really?? Fall back, spring forward... just pick one and stick with it already!! I didn't really care before I had kids... Now when the sun rises at 5am, I do care... especially having two toddlers. Adjusting has been a little challenging.

7. Kind of wishing there were no cell phones. We all survived and thrived before them. Gone are the days of home phones and real communication. Text messaging is not real communication... fyi. Oh, the simple days.

8. Know-it-alls DRIVE ME CRAZY. Everyone has a little bit in them- including me... but GIVE IT UP! You don't know it all!!

9. Who are "They"? They say you shouldn't do this... or you should do that. I would like to meet them someday. They have a lot of influence on everyone. : )

10. We took the boys to their first football game. I wasn't ready for that. They did great the first half, but the second half they were tuckered out. Luckily we brought our sweet sitter, Lauren and she strolled them around the entire second half while they slept.

Like Mother Like Son?

Last night, my mom sent me a couple pics of me as a baby via text... of course I am very tickled because I was convinced that my boys looked just like their daddy. Well, move over dad because I can claim at least one! : ) There is no mistaking that we are their parents... that's for sure!

What do y'all think.. does Hud look like me?? : )

Yes, I appear to have a slight crossing of the eyes.. ha... other than that- same eye shape and color, nose, mouth, head shape to a T (no pun intended Mr. T), hairline, ears and even eyebrows. He is just a boy version of me. : )

Not sure how old I am in the above pic with the big Christmas bow (from a present-nice mom) on my head, but as you can see... hardly any hair. I was around 2 when I started really getting hair, although my mom says I was 4. Awesome. Good thing I love bald babies!

Hud may look a lot like me, but man does he have his daddy's personality... and vice verse. Thomas is me to a "T". : ) Funny how that happens. Keeps things interesting.

At times, I see a little me in T, but for the most part... he is his DADDY! He also looks a lot like Judy did when she was a baby. Lucky little guy!

Check out my mom in the left pic. I definitely look a lot like her now (a blue eyed, blonde hair version)... Lindsey is her clone... scary. Cover the 80's hair- bam Lindsey. She was around my age in that pic. Crazy to think about.

What Stroller Do I Need??

While I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed our City Select Baby Jogger (not actually a jogging stroller-weird I know), I am ready for a lightweight, very compact and easy folding, umbrella of sorts... kind of stroller. It doesn't have to be fancy or name brand... just something practical for my big boy toddlers. Our current stroller has been great for the infant stage and even into toddler... I was able to attach their carseats and then eventually put them in the seats that came with the stroller. I am able to face them both forward, both towards me or face towards each other. It does everything... HOWEVER- It is a pain to set up (in my opinion). I have to drag out the base, unfold (which is easy but kind of heavy), then attach each seat. Then repeat those steps to put it away. Not to mention it takes up quite a bit of space in our car. I love it, but I want something easy to travel with... especially with the holidays coming up. I have done a little research, but want to hear from my other mommas. I have been a little interested in a jogging stroller as well, but I am not sure if there is a lightweight, easy folding one?? Would love any and all suggestions. The stroller we have was pretty expensive, so I am hoping to not break the bank on this one. : )

Here are a few I have found.... anyone had these?? Is there a different one you recommend??

Weekend Recaps

A couple weekends ago my dad and stepmom, Jean Ann, came in town. We had such a fun weekend- a trip to the mall, then to a local plant nursery (to spruce up my plants on the front porch), and an action packed football game. Samford came away with another BIG win over Elon. 43-31. This is the 3rd consecutive win since 2005. I'm so proud of our boys- they have been working hard!! Our coaches are also putting in hard hours to prepare and have them ready. This past weekend we played Appalachian State (considered one of the best in the league) in NC. Phil and Judy kept the boys for us so I was able to go! They were so sweet to keep them for us. It was nice to get away for a couple days and rest. I needed a little break, and a little extra time with Rhett is always nice--- and very much needed. : ) Unfortunately we didn't win, but I am still proud of the fight we put up. North Carolina might be one of the most beautiful places I have seen. I love the simple living... the mountains and trees... just beautiful. I am a mountain girl for sure.

Since Hudson literally flips out at the sight of a camera or a cell phone, pictures are rather hard to take these days. I did manage to snap a quick shot at Target the other day without a freak out. I think he was so captivated by the store, he didn't think about wanting the phone. Check out Thomas. Chillaxin'.

My little men are 13 months.. and then some. I can't believe how much they have changed over the past year. They are both walking and talking like crazy. I love listening to their little gibber gabber language. They are so much fun these days!

Makeover Monday- All About Brows

Eyebrows help frame the face, so they are a pretty important feature. A few little tricks can really make a huge difference. The above picture pretty much depicts the right proportion for eyebrows. Use can use a pen to test out the points. Hold the pen vertical. The beginning of your eyebrow should almost line up with the edge of your nose. For the arch- hold pen at edge of nostril across the center of the eye. Where does the pen go through your eyebrows? There your arch should be. Do the same for the end of your brows. Line up the pen from the edge of your nose, through the outer corner of your eye... Mine don't quite reach the pen, so if they don't, no worries..

For very full brows-

If you haven't really shaped your brows before, I would suggest having a professional shape them first. I know this is an expense, but I promise it is worth it to have someone shape them for the first time. They can talk you through where to tweeze and how to maintain your brows as well. I have had mine done a couple of times and I am always super happy with how they look. Make sure you go to someone who is specializes in brows. You may decide that having someone else consistently do them is the best route for you, but its really a pretty easy thing to maintain. When you consistently tweeze your brows, eventually you won't have to tweeze as often. The tweezers I use and swear by are Tweezerman. They are a little expensive, but they have a lifetime guarantee and you can mail them back to the company to sharpen them for FREE! How cool is that?? Don't bother with tweezers from Wal-Mart or Target. I ended up throwing those away... that was until I was introduced to Tweezerman. I have had the same pair for YEARS...

For thin brows-

Whether you have over tweezed/waxed or just have naturally thin brows, there are ways to enhance your eyebrows without looking like a clown. Many people shy away from pencils, powders etc, but if you use them the right way, they can make a WORLD of difference.

Brow Gel

If you have full brows and just want to make them more prominent, use a tinted brow gel. It will give the actual hair color (not your skin) and hold the brows in place. This is what I use and prefer over a regular clear brow gel. The clear ones I have tried tend to crust and leave residue. This does not. I use Jane Iredale Purebrow Gel.

Wax

A product on the same lines as a brow gel is a wax. I have not tried this product, but have heard great things. Once I run out of my other, I may try it just to check it out. : ) First, I like that there are two colors.. second, the tweezers!! Perfect to grab that stray hair that got away!

Benefit Brow Zings

Pencils

These are another way to enhance the brow. I would highly recommend going to a store where you can actually test the product on your hand/eyebrows. You may spend a couple more dollars, but I promise it will be worth it in the end. I occasionally use a pencil where my brows are naturally a little thinner. The trick is have your pencil very sharp. Then do very light strokes in the same direction of your hair. Then comb back over it (either with the end of the brush) or a different tool. Example below. My pencil of choice is Anastasia. You can find this at Sephora.

Powder

Powder is probably my least favorite product for brows (because I think it looks the least natural), but if used sparingly and properly, it can look great. The key is to have the right color and the right brush to apply it. I like the Bare Escentuals Brow Brush. It applies the powder lightly. As far as powder goes, Anastasia has several color combinations. Try them out and find the best shade for you!

As for me... on a normal day when I wear makeup, I will normally just use the tinted brow gel. On days when I am a little more dressy (church etc.), I usually do pencil, comb through it and then the brow gel.

YSL's Touche Eclat

This stuff will cover any shade of darkness.

I use it under my eyes and anywhere else I want to highlight.

It has such a pretty finish.

Smashbox Softbox Eye Palette

Perfect fall shades.

The sides (not shown in the this pic) are eyeliners.

There are a few mattes and a few shimmers. It's always nice to have a balance.

Left column- golden, bronzy browns. Middle- neutrals. Right- gray browns.

Now, to keep those eyeshadows on....

Laura Mercier's Eye Basic.

This conceals the eyelid (covering veins, redness etc)..

and creates a clean palette for eyeshadows. Not only that, but it keeps shadows from creasing. Go all day without anything moving!

LM Secret Camouflage Concealer

Simply the best. For the face-not under eyes.. it's too thick for the delicate eye area. You need more moisture there.

Great to cover sun damage, pimples...redness around nose... any imperfection really...

Good ole' Jane Iredale.

I swear by her Mineral foundations.

I normally wear the pressed powder, but occasionally I wear the liquid too

(mostly winter when I am dry).

Clinique's Long Last Glossware in Juicy Apple

It's a very very sheer red. Pretty by itself...but would be perfect over a red lipstick too.

This is perfect for someone who doesn't wear lipstick, but wants a touch of color and shine.

Plus it has spf!!

Makeover Monday- Dry Skin

I know, I know... I haven't done a Makeover Monday in a while. This one isn't the most exciting, but I cannot live without these products during the fall and winter months. I have tried LOTS of products, and these have worked the best for me.

For all over body.... CeraVe is my absolute favorite. You can find this at Walgreens or CSV. Sometimes they will carry it at other places too. I found some at Publix the other day... gotta love Publix. They have everything. Anyway, what I love most about this moisturizer is that it goes right into your skin... no greasy sticky feel afterwards. It's just the right amount of moisture. Instantly makes itchy dry skin go away. The one on the left is one I use everyday. The one in the tub is for super dry skin. I like to use it on my elbows and feet... and sometimes all over when its in the dead of winter.

For the hands. I swore by Ahava for years.......until a couple years ago. When I worked at a spa in Auburn, I came across this little gem and haven't gone back.... Black Pearl Nourishing Hand and Nail Cream.... It's THE best hand cream out there. It's a little harder to find, but worth the effort! I think I saw it on Amazon the other day, so I am pretty sure you can get it there.

Here is another product that leaves your skin ridiculously soft and silky... I have tried tons of scrubs and even blogged about them. This one has raised the bar even higher. My mother in law brought a jar of it back from a vacation for me and MAN am I glad she did. You can either use it on dry skin or damp skin. If you do it dry, its SUPER intense. I use mine in the shower with damp skin... it's a really deep scrub even with water. The best part is rinsing off. Not only is your body amazingly scrubbed down and silky smooth, but the oils that are left on your skin are like nothing I have ever experienced. It's almost like I dipped in a vat of coconut oil. You don't need a moisturizer after you dry off... cause its still there... in a good way. And the smell..... OH the smell. It's heavenly.

And for a random new product I love.... a dry shampoo. One word... Umipowder. My younger sister (#3 out of 4), Anna, sent this to me for my birthday (Love her-she knows I am a product junky). Since I go several days between hair washing these days, I was SUPER excited to give this a try. She worked at Umi Salon in Boston when she discovered it. I am so glad she did. I have tried other dry shampoos... sprays, tinted sprays, powders.... YUCK YUCK YUCK. This one is different. It's light and you don't feel like you dumped even more goop on your hair. Just google the name and you can find at several places.

A "W" for Samford!!

For the first time since 1969, Samford beat Furman today!! It was a very exciting game- lots of momentum shifts, but we hung in there until the end. We won 26-21. So proud of Rhett and our Samford football team. They worked hard until the end. Both the defense and the offense worked their tails off. They deserved this win and I couldn't be more proud!!!

Just wanted everyone to know the great news!!! Glad to welcome home a happy husband. : )

These days

Writers block is what these days are filled with. I have so much going on in my head (I will spare y'all for the most part), but I'm having a hard time getting it out. We are right in the middle of football season- which is always the hardest time of the year for us (more me). This year is even more difficult. 2 toddlers, me and a husband who works constantly (that includes Saturdays and Sunday for those not familiar with this world). Before the boys, I would fill my time with work, errands, projects and just stay busy. Now that we have two toddlers, life is completely different. Don't get me wrong, its a good different, but a challenging one. Let me just say that I have a new respect for single moms. A HUGE respect... I know it's different and I cannot imagine, but I feel like I can relate in a very small way now. There are days that Rhett doesn't see the boys at all. I know it's so hard on him... but its also really hard on us. They are beginning to notice too. At night they start saying "dada" over and over. Days are consumed with "mama"... but at night, its "dada"... because if for some small chance that he does come home, its right before they go down... they are smart little guys. Also, the boys have started really testing me lately. Fits, slapping, and throwing food has become a regular occurrence in our house. I can now see that these next few years are going to be my hardest yet. One toddler is challenging, but two... and during football season by myself... sheesh... one day at a time... one day at a time. I am exhausted. Bottom line. This is a hard profession- one that no one can truly understand or relate to unless you have been there. It's a calling and you have to be equipped to do it. I do miss Arkansas right now. Maybe not Arkansas.. but my family and friends... and I think most people would understand that missing them is normal during a trying season. Now, let me just say that I am so grateful for where we are in life. I know this is where God wants us. He has us here for a purpose. I have seen his hand in so many situations already. We are so blessed... two healthy and beautiful boys, a happy family and marriage, a great job, a great place with great people... it goes on and on. I can't complain. But I can be honest and say that I am having to take it one day at a time these days. Lots of prayer, lots of scripture... lots of deep breaths. I know this is only a season- and one that will pass quickly. I also know that these boys will be grown far too fast and I am doing my best to soak it in and enjoy it- even the hard moments. It's a road game this weekend, so its just me and the boys. : ) Hoping for a win against Furman. Samford hasn't won against Furman since 1969.. they don't play each other every year, but still... would be a big win for us. Go Samford!!

Nap Time.. ugh

Brother keeps waking me up, mom!!!!

This has been a frustrating topic for me lately. Hudson has always been a good napper and nighttime sleeper. I think he would nap at least 4 hours a day if his brother didn't wake him up EVERY SINGLE time. Most days I can sneak in and get Thomas before he wakes Hud up, but lately, Hud wakes up no matter what. Thomas is only sleeping 45 min for the 1st nap and 45 min tops for the second nap. This is very tiring and frustrating for me. I DO NOT get anything done anymore... Nap time used to be a time when I could catch up on cleaning, laundry, dishes etc... not anymore. Thomas has never been a great napper, but he would sleep at least an hour at a time... sometimes more. Nighttime is different.. he sleeps 12 hours straight. Praise the Lord. Is this a transition time or something.. does he only need one nap now?? I feel like they still need two, but when they are only sleeping for 45 min at a time, I don't see how it really helps them that much. I'm sure it does more than I know. For all of you moms out there- twin moms especially- is this normal?? It's hard when you have two very different people, personalities and needs.

Sorry to vent- but this is where I do it!! I think I am just worn out right now.

What are your thoughts on this?

Fall Wreath

I saw this wreath over at Bless Our Nest. She had seen it on Pinterest and decided to make it. I loved it so much that I decided to make it as well. : ) Although the original is perfect, I did change it up a little.

Is it just me or do the pumpkins look real? Although very cute, just not practical for me.

Amazingly adorable... I know.

Here is what you will need: (I got everything from Hobby Lobby)

A grapevine wreath- I went with a much bigger/oblong size than the inspiration.

Spanish Moss- their are several shades, just go with the regular dark green color (the one in front). I bought the bright green and thought it would be cool to add a little.... not so much.

Pumpkins- I chose to do several different colors to mix it up.

Burlap- I used a yard. Bows with burlap are tricky.. fyi

Hot glue gun and several glue sticks.. I probably used 6 or 7.

This is very messy... so make sure you have a good size work area. I used our kitchen island and put down trash bags for easy clean up.

Yes, the bright green is on there... but I ended up taking it off...

Loving that fall is finally here!!

The finished product. Of course I am not 100% happy with it. I am never fully satisfied with any project I do- Can you say, Perfectionism to a T? It's a sickness. I am actually about to change up the pumpkin placement a little... Ha.

Toddler Tuesday

Here is Hud man yesterday. I have posted this video everywhere, so if you have already seen it, sorry!!! Thomas isn't quite as motivated as Hudson, but I don't think it will be long before he sees how fast Hud gets around. Hud is trying to walk most places and gets so frustrated if he loses his balance and falls. You can definitely see a lot of determination in his little personality already. He loves to walk to something (usually his football), pick it up and throw it... and then walk to it again. He is a pro at this. When I peek in on them, he is usually up on his feet. Thomas is extremely content crawling at this point. He is definitely strong enough- the kid has legs, butt and abs of steel... no seriously... Ask my mom- she is in awe of him. Ha! No but seriously, he is a happy camper just cruising and crawling right now. That is just fine with me! The boys have the entire front of the house to explore and play now. We just installed a large gate to cut off the kitchen. Baby jail was too small for these two toddlers. They love pulling every toy out of the chest. Babies r us has thrown up in our house. It makes me nauseous to look around and see the mess... This too shall pass... : )

USGA SENIOR AMATEUR CHAMPION & Future Pro Golfers

My dad, Louis Lee won the USGA Senior Amateur Championship today. If you don't follow golf, this doesn't really mean anything to you. But for those of you who do, you know how big of a deal this is... in fact its HUGE considering my dad hasn't competed since 1985... that's two years after I was born. For him to qualify, compete against 2200 people and win the whole thing... IS HUGE. My Uncle Stan won the tournament in 07' and also played this year. For the first time in USGA history, two brothers competed against each other. Talk about an exciting match!!! My dad won on the 19th hole (had to play an extra hole because they were tied up) to move on to the top four. He won his second match play a few hours later to move on to the finals this morning. My dad has always been a great golfer. I (and many others) have begged him for years to play more competitively. In his early years, he won 10 state titles in Arkansas. Since then, he has worked hard and done very well working for State Farm Insurance. This year my dad turned 55 which is the youngest age to be able to compete as a "senior". My Uncle Stan FINALLY convinced my dad to try to qualify... and that he did. And now here we are... I always knew he could do it. I had no doubt. But honestly, I am shocked... because you see, my dad was born and raised in Heber Springs AR, he is the definition of a home body. Just leaving town for a few days is hard for him. This was a very big step for him.

A little about my dad... My dad is a very humble man. He has lived a life of integrity, loyalty and faith. What I love most about my dad is that he truly cares about other people...and he has always put others before himself... always helping those who need help. His love for the Lord is so evident... in his actions, the way he carries himself and his overall perspective on life. He lives with an eternal perspective. I have always looked up to my dad. I am one very proud daughter.

So, congratulations dad... you did it... and I always knew you could.

You are my hero. I know Grandma is looking down from heaven so proudly at her baby boy.

All of this to say, I have high hopes for Thomas and Hudson. Surely, it's in the genes, right? I do know one thing... they will be sent to Lee Golf Camp every summer. We will be kid free and they learn golf from the pros- win win!!

The boys and I visited the Dr. yesterday for their 1 year check up and vaccines. It was a particularly hard day for me because I took them by myself. Normally Rhett goes with us, but he couldn't get away from work. It was rough, but we made it. It's really hard holding down, consoling and doing it all over again. Plus, they just want to be held after and I can't hold them both at the time. They are nearly impossible to hold at the same time now... but I still manage to do it somehow. : ) They are tough little guys and they pulled it together pretty quick after their shots. I wanted to record their stats for future reference.

Thomas- "Big Man". Dr. P said, " He's not fat, he is just a very big kid." And that he is. More than half of my height already. Awesome.

Length: 32 in- 95%

Weight: 24lbs 7oz- 75%

Head: 18 1/2in- 75%

Hudson- "Little (Normal and so stinkin' cute) Man".

Length: 30 in- 50%

Weight: 22lbs 4oz- 50%

The boys are drinking only whole milk now. My plan was to start gradually adding whole milk at 11 months and add more and more each week. I think the slow transition was a great plan. It allowed them to gradually wean from formula and introduce them to real milk. Also, to help their tummies adjust easier. They have done great with it. They are loving pretty much all foods these days. I don't think they have ever disliked anything. They are both great eaters... I am very fortunate. Their favorite is still turkey and cheese. Thomas smacks so loud.. its pretty funny. Fortunately, we are bottle and passy free (bottle a month or so ago, passy a couple months ago). SO thankful for that. Their Dr. was very proud that we did it so early. He said that babies lose their need to suck at 6 months- so really its good to wean then. Anything after that is just habit forming. I hadn't heard that before... thought it was interesting. They sleep so much better now. They haven't woken up one time since we dropped the paci. Can you say

My guys are growing up...I have two little men!! No more babies here.

Their Schedule these days:

7:00-7:30- wake
7:45-8:00- 5 or 6 oz of whole milk and oatmeal/ Cut up banana
9:30-10:00- nap
11:30-12:00- lunch/ turkey and cheese, some stage 3 baby foods, etc
2:00-juice and snack
2:30- nap
5:00-dinner
6:00-Bath
6:30- 8oz milk
7:00-bed

Both boys are taking steps. Hud is very close to taking off. When I check on them during play time, he is usually standing holding something. Thomas still seems content crawling, but I don't think it will be long after Hud starts. They love pushing that walker around. They are so curious and into everything. I get a great workout everyday just chasing them. No extra work out needed!! They are both babbling all day long.. straight gibberish. Our doctor seemed very pleased with where they are right now.

1st Birthday Party! The full scoop...

I had no idea how much preparing and planning goes into 1st Birthdays... or kids Birthdays in general. Sheesh... I am exhausted!! At the end of the day, it was alllll worth it though. We had a great turnout.. I think I counted 31... ish... may have missed a couple. I put "no gifts please" on the invites... but of course no one listened and the boys were SHOWERED with gifts. I have no idea where we are going to put everything, but we will find a spot I'm sure. : ) I have several shout outs in this post- starting with Christa Roy who sent me several yummy recipes.. the food turned out great- but of course I had help from my in-laws and my family. I could not have done it without them! Poppy (Phil/ Rhett's dad) was a worker bee this week. He ran errand after errand for me. That man is a blessing from above. If you know him- you totally agree. Phil and Judy both were here several days before the party and helped me tremendously with the boys. I love having them here so that I can get some things done! : ) Of course the boys love them too, so its a win win!!

Let's start with the invites.. another shout out... Amy Hannon over at Sincerely Yours Paper made them and I couldn't have been more happy with them. I took a pic with my phone- sorry for the poor picture quality. You get the idea though!! We obviously went with a football theme. It seemed appropriate.

Another shout out to my youngest sister Ali who was the photographer for the day. I was very thankful to not have to think about taking pictures. She did a great job and captured a lot of great photos!!

Starting with their monthly picture banner. I made football jerseys and used the numbers for each month. I was happy with how it turned out. It was much larger than I originally planned, so we had to
get creative as to where to hang it. I like where it ended up.

The H & T will now be hung in the boys' bathroom.

This was before all of the food was out (hence us setting up), so its not exactly what it looked like, but you can still get the idea. We had meatballs, a cheese ring with strawberry jam, a cheeseball, spicy buffalo dip, sausage balls, a fruit and veggie platter, cupcakes (instead of cake) and fruit punch.

Their little cakes were the perfect size.

Another shout out (told you there were several) to Katie Henry over at Passys & Parties who made the "Happy Birthday" banner and cupcake toppers. They went perfectly with the other things I had already made! They were perfect!! Love it when everything comes together like that.

Their actual birthday was Saturday, but we celebrated it on Sunday because of the football game. My youngest sister Ali took a few pictures that I wanted to share. It was game day so we got a few pics with dad before he left and then we just had a low key day before the game. I already posted this one of Rhett and the boys, but I love it so much that I will share it again. Thanks for understanding. : )

My precious boys,

One whole year... where did the time go? It's impossible for me to imagine life without you. I feel like my life truly began when I became your mom. Your dad and I are blown away by this new love we have discovered. Our hearts are so full. The first time I laid eyes on you both, I knew my life would never be the same. It wasn't about me anymore. From your big blue eyes to the swirl of your calics, we are completely in love with you two. My dad always tells me he loves me forever... and draws an infinity sign in cards or notes. Now I know what he truly meant.

My love has no beginning and no end.

Thomas, looks wise, you are a mini version of your daddy. Seriously, you are a little clone. You have very large hands and very large and wide feet... like your daddy. And appropriately, you are such a daddy's boy. When he is around, no one else exists. Mommy who?? Even though you have a more chill, laid back personality (you get from me) than your daddy, you still do things your dad did as a baby. For example, you rub the soft tags on your blankies and stuffed animals just like your daddy did. As a child, Rhett had a bear named "Bear" (I know, so original)... anyway, he eventually rubbed the tag completely off. His mom had to have another tag sewn back on. Thomas, you have such a sweet disposition about you. I can already tell that you have such a big heart. Don't get me wrong- I see a lot of stinker in you. You have started having moments where I need to walk away and take a DEEEEEEP breath... say a quick prayer... and return. BUT when I see your big grin... it takes any frustration I have away... : )

Hudson, you are a little spit fire. You came into this world wanting only three things.... to eat, be loved and to be heard... and not much has changed. Personality wise, you are your daddy to a T. Looks wise... you look more like me. Our eyes are identical. You have been consistently 2 lbs less than Thomas, but your hands and feet are just as big. I am guessing you will still be at least 6 ft tall. You are definitely a mommas boy. If I am near, you want to be as close as possible. When we make eye contact, you light up and squeal like you are seeing me for the first time. Huddy, you are so much fun and so full of energy at all times. You have such a tender heart (this you get from me). It doesn't take much for you to get your feelings hurt. If I even give you a look, the lip drops and the pouting begins. I love it though because it gives me the opportunity to scoop you into my arms and love on you. Your little face melts me.

Both of your are taking steps now. Although I wouldn't consider you "walkers" just yet- you are very close. I see you build confidence every day. I love seeing your faces light up. I know you are so proud of yourselves... but not as proud as your momma.

Weekend Recap & Festivities to come!

This past weekend was bittersweet. Bittersweet because it was the beginning of a new season and the first game as an Offensive Coordinator... but sadly, we lost (31-17) which was so hard on Rhett. My heart hurt for him. BUT it's the first game. We will only get better- and continue to move forward. Rhett did great- he called a great game.. in my opinion and according to my father in law (who knows his football!). We are both a little biased though. :-) Georgia Southern is ranked though- and will probably dominate the conference, so we have nothing to be ashamed of and need to keep our heads held high. They were our Alabama right out of the gate. We have a lot to work on, but I think we will be just fine. I am proud of our boys for the fight they put up. I was and AM so proud of Rhett. I know that this is only the beginning.

My in-laws have been here since Friday. It's really nice having extra hands around to help out with the boys. Also, the boys and I have had a little virus of some sort... runny/congested nose, upset tummy, headache....Fun fun....so having them around has been a blessing. Plus the boys just love their Poppy and Juju. This week I will be cooking and preparing for the boys big day coming up this Sunday! Everything is coming together and I am getting really excited! Saturday is their actual birthday, but we are celebrating it on Sunday. We are expecting around 25-30!! A lot more than I had originally anticipated- it will be a shindig for sure. My mom, Brad and youngest sister Ali are heading this way Thursday night. I couldn't be more excited that they are coming. Wishing my other two sisters were able to be here. I guess I understand though ;- ). One has 3 little ones and lives 9 hrs away. The other is in Boston getting married the following weekend... so a little busy to say the least. We will sure miss them though. On Saturday, we will all load up and go cheer on our Samford Bulldogs this Saturday. We are playing Stillman and are hoping for a big W! Prayers are appreciated. : )

The boys are changing so much these days. I could go on an on, but I will spare you. Both are taking steps now... getting more and more confident every day. The football is their favorite prized possession now. When I say "Where is your football?", they quickly part through all of their toys and tackle their football. They are quick learners. :-)

Makeover Monday- Fall Lips 2011

Yep... Red. It's all about Red. I know, I know....to many people, this is a scary color, but you can do it!! Whether you are a blonde with fair skin, a redhead or have darker skin - everyone can pull it off. Just look at the above pics! There are so many shades of red today. Pinky reds, orange-y reds, reds with blue undertones.. the skies the limit. Up until a few years ago, I was terrified of these shades. I have always had full lips and darker shades just make them appear even larger. In my early years, big lips were not cool. In fact... I hated them. Then the world was introduced to Angelina Jolie. In comparison to Angelina, mine are little slivers.. so I embraced them and convinced myself to like them.

My mom has always worn red lipstick. She would kiss us on the cheeks and BAM red stain... on our faces... forever to stay. I think this scarred me in a way. I vowed to never wear red lipstick. To this day, she still rocks a red lip. I'm pretty sure her lips are stained. Like forever. Love you mom.

Anyway, in college I worked at a fabulous little cosmetic boutique in Fayetteville called Glo. My eyes were opened... my horizons broadened. Low and behold... I became a believer.

**I took pictures of the actual product on my lips, because its hard to tell from a stock picture. Of course, every color looks different on everyone because of varying lip pigment - but at least you can get an idea. (Also keep in mind every monitor is different as well)**

This is a lip stain. I like it because its really light and creamy. It's more of a berry red. It's great to layer with other lipsticks.

First Steps & Ball Throwin' Fun

This has been a big week for Mr. Hudson. His first word ("Turkey") and now his first steps. While I was in "baby jail" playing with them today, he was cruising along the rail and all of a sudden... he turned, let go and took 3 steps towards me squealing the whole way. It was priceless. He then decided that it was worthy of praise because he started clapping and cheering (which consisted of, "YAAAAAAAAAAAAY.... YAAAAAAAAAAAAY" and on and on). Meanwhile Thomas is just watching and wondering what all the commotion is about. He could care LESS about walking at this point. He is content crawling and cruising for now. I think once Hud is up and walking good it will motivate him. Thomas is the most ticklish kid EVER (he gets it from his daddy) so if I try to hold under his arms to help him walk he completely goes limp and the laughter begins. He doesn't even like for me to hold his hands. He thinks it is all too funny. I know that when he is ready, it will happen. I am just enjoying my life before walkers. It's interesting enough with crawlers and cruisers.

Hudson is my little napper. The boys take two naps. One around 9:30am and the other around 2:30. Hudson will sleep for at least 1 1/2 hours each time and sometimes up to 2 1/2 depending on the day. Thomas will not sleep more than 1 1/2 hours each time... sometimes less.... which gives me and T a little one on one time everyday. I let him explore and roam the house. Today, he decided to throw the ball for Bentlee. We NEVER throw the ball for Bentlee anymore so he is completely deprived. Today was a win win! Thomas loved throwing the ball... and Bentlee loved chasing and fetching. Success!!

Paci Free and First Word!

2 posts in 1 day... wow!!

I totally dropped the ball updating you on their paci situation!! SORRY!! They were through with the paci before my post about them being "paci thieves". It took about a week and a half (only because I took things slow). I kept snipping a little bit more off the tip every couple of days. Before long they wouldn't even mess with it. They would hold them in their hands, but not even try to suck on them. I finally decided to bite the bullet and just take it out of their cribs altogether. I was nervous... They did great though!! My boys have always cried a little before they fall asleep... with or without their paci. They still cry for a few minutes but now they sleep so much better. They have slept awesome for the past couple of weeks. AND we have teeth coming in like crazy... they are my little rock stars.

Today was a big day for Mr. Hudson. I was giving them their lunch- a little baby food (veggies), bits of turkey and cheese and goldfish. I kept saying "Turkey" and then would give them a piece. Out of no where, I heard and saw Hudson whisper, "Turkey" perfectly. It was so cute and he was soooo proud of himself. He started squealing and throwing his hands in the hair. He said it a couple of times and that was it! No more! Thomas wanted nothing to do with the nonsense... he just wanted to eat it!! They LOOOOVE turkey and cheese. Other things they have recently tried and love- grapes, watermelon, and applesauce.. Applesauce is their FAVORITE! They grunt and moan while they are eating it... it's pretty hilarious. I have been letting them feed themselves a lot more lately and let me tell you.... its a TRIP! They are the messiest kids... like ever. Food covers our floors/ counters and of course... them.

They are just now starting to get a little bit of hair in the back- see above pic.. (Total mullet going on- which I will remove before it gets out of hand). Every time I feed them, Hud runs his nasty little food covered fingers through his hair. He also rubs his eyes for some reason...getting food all over. At night, he runs his fingers through his hair and rubs the back of his head while he is trying to put himself to sleep which is the cutest thing ever. I love watching it on the monitor. On his belly, booty in the air, hands behind head. It looks really awkward.. but apparently its pretty comfy.

Yesterday was pretty eventful. We normally go to 9:00am church service because it works best with the boys schedule. Yesterday, Samford Football players/staff went to church as a group and then we had lunch served at the church for us afterwards. We attended the 11:30 service so I was nervous about their feeding schedule. They did great and it could not have gone smoother. Well, maybe highchairs would have been good. Holding two very active kids while trying to eat (not good).. not to mention they were hungry so we were feeding them some of our food too which was interesting to say the least... HA! Anyway, to add to my stress..We had our 5 quarterbacks over for dinner (I was given plenty of notice). So as soon as we got home from church I was cooking like crazy! Cooking for 6 men is hard!! It was a success though. We had a great time with our QB's.

Makeover Monday- Sun Damage

Unless you are one of those very fortunate and very blessed people, more than likely, you have sun damage somewhere on your body. I have had freckles my whole life. My mom always called them "angel kisses". Well, they are definitely not angel kisses... they are damage. My entire family-mom, dad, sisters allllll have olive skin. My dad is the only one with blue eyes, so I know I got mine from him, but the fair skin... ugh.. not sure where I picked that up. Now I can gradually get a tan... but if I am not very careful, I will fry, then peel and eventually freckle. It's a lovely progression of events.

So my point, yes- some people are more prone to having freckles... fair skin, light eyes... etc. Just a thought though...Have you ever seen a baby born with freckles? Nope.. because there don't appear until the damage has started. I know I have touched on this topic before, but just because our summer months are coming to an end, it does not mean you don't have to worry about the sun. Your cute little freckles will continue to grow larger and larger as you get older... eventually being named "aged spots". You will also see them start appearing on your arms, legs and other places that the sun touched throughout your life. Unfortunately, most of the damage is done in our teens and early-mid 20's. So if you are in your late 20's, 30's, 40's or older, you are probably seeing damage that was done years ago. It's all coming back now- the time we slathered ourselves in grease and baked in the sun for hours.. yep, those days. Unfortunately, the pigment will continue to get darker and darker as time goes on, so its very important to treat and protect now! There are so many things you can do to treat this issue. Starting with the most expensive options- laser treatments are very effective. You may have to do multiple treatments but the pain is minimal. Another option is a series of Microdermabrasion. One treatment won't do much, but if you do several, you will see results. You want to find a very knowledgeable esthetician and clinic that you can trust. I would research, ask around and try to get recommendations from friends. Another option would be at home treatments. I know Sephora has a PLETHORA of sun damage serums, lotions, scrubs, peels etc. I would try to ask someone who seems knowledgeable... tell them about your skin.. sensitivities, concerns... and what you want from the treatment. There are very gentle treatments (like Clinique's Even Better).. or more aggressive treatments containing Retinol. Obviously a product containing Retinol will give you quicker results, but you may not be able to use those depending on your sensitivities.

Here is what I do:

First, I always apply sunscreen before my makeup. This does not replace your moisturizer. I always wash, treat, moisturize and then protect. I use Nutrogena Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF 45. It is a little heavy, so I wait a good 10 minutes before I put my makeup on.

Next, my makeup alone has an SPF of 20-30 (depending on what I use that day). It's always good to add extra protection. The makeup I use (Jane Iredale) is formulated with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. They are minerals that give instant, broad-spectrum, chemical-free sun protection. So I get instant protection while my Nutrogena sunscreens kicks in.

Also, I use a scrub every other day (or when I think about it). I keep it in my shower and use it when I'm in there... that way there is no mess! I use and looooove Fresh's Soy Face Exfoliant. It's gentle, but yet very effective. It contains Jojoba, rose hip, and cucumber seeds and it has just the right texture to give a really good exfoliation.

Another thing I use and LOOOOOVE.. I asked for this a few years ago and my wonderful mother in law bought it for me... either for my birthday or Christmas... can't remember... Anyway, I wanted this because I really wanted to do microdermabrasion treatments, but decided I didn't want to spend that kind of money. This seemed like a great alternative and it definitely is. Well, now I can do treatments at home... anytime. I used this for a few months and then put it away towards the end of my pregnancy. I recently pulled it back out and I still love it just as much as I did. This little machine is called a Crystallift.

This is just like having microdermabrasion done at a clinic. According to the company it isn't as strong.. although I totally disagree. I have had mirco done at a spa and this feels exactly the same. It also gives me the same result. There are three settings that you can change depending on your comfort level. I keep it on the middle setting which is perfect for me. It comes with a video to guide you through the steps. It is very easy to use. You have a little redness after, but absolutely no pain. My skin feels like a babies bottom after each treatment. I use this once a week and start noticing a difference very quickly. I use it on my face, neck and decollete. What I love most about this little beauty is that it is safe for anyone to use. There are so many treatments out there that contain all kinds of ingredients that can harm our skin- this is not one of them. It can be adjusted to your comfort level and there aren't any harm chemicals involved! This may not be for everyone- and you may not get the results that you desire, but I think this is a pretty great little machine and I will continue to use it!! The only downside is that you have to continue to buy the crystals. : ( It is still much cheaper than having a series done at a clinic or spa!! Read more about it here....

Let me say this, if you have the money and prefer a spa experience, GO FOR IT! I am not saying this is for everyone. I can only say what I love and what works for me. : )

Paci Thieves

According to our church nursery workers, we have two paci thieves. Am I surprised? Absolutely not... actually I think its pretty funny. Don't get me wrong, they still went on and on about how great they are... how sweet and smart etc etc.. but they did say that they snatched every paci they could get their hands on. : ) I have seen them do this in our own home, so I can only imagine what went on today in the nursery. Here at the Lashlee Residence, they will violently rip and tackle each other to get a paci. Even if they each have a paci in their mouths, they still want the other ones paci. I usually just let them work out their little battles.. and they always do! It builds character. : )

If you follow our blog, you know that we have started the paci weaning process. I have taken the process a little slower and I think that's just what these kiddos needed. I started off by slitting the tip with a knife. Then a few days later I clipped a little bit off the tip, a few days later.. a little more. Now they are down to half a paci. It's really not even usable, but they still stick it in their mouths and just hold it there. Today, for the first time, I put them down for a nap and did not give them a paci at all. They immediately went to sleep... without a peep. So far so good!!

This past week, Samford started football practice... which means, the husband is gone.. until Feb. That may be a little dramatic, but we definitely will be seeing a lot less of him. Although, I will be seeing Rhett a little more compared to when we were at Auburn (He comes home around 9/10pm compared to 12/1am), the boys will not be seeing as much of dad (they go to bed at 7pm). Which means, we will be making a few office visits throughout the week. I really think this is SUPER important. They need to see their daddy. : ) We visited him on Friday and we had 3 very happy campers... well 4, because I am happy when they are happy.

I am giving the boys more and more table food and they are loving it... although their tummies beg to differ. They are definitely adjusting to new foods and whole milk.

I am only doing a tiny tiny bit so its a very gradual process.

Hud likes to grab big handfuls of food and suck on it

All of a sudden, the boys are becoming so affectionate. They cuddle and hug and just melt into me/Rhett. They both want to be in my arms- which is a pretty funny sight I am sure!! The two of them are almost big enough to take me... ha.. not really but close!! A little team work and they could pull it off. Hudson all of a sudden is having a little (a lot) separation anxiety. : / One of our babysitters came over a few days ago so I could run a couple errands and take Thomas to his FINAL helmet appointment (yes, we are through- PTL) and he screamed and screamed when I started to leave. She said he calmed down once I was gone, but said Mama... Mama... Mama the whole time I was gone. Another friend (Kristi : ) ) came over for a visit on Thursday and he screamed the moment she stepped foot in the house. He looked at her, then at me.. and b-lined it to me. I guess he thought I was leaving.. not sure. He calmed down after he realized I wasn't going anywhere. Makes me feel good... but really bad as well. Hope this is a very short phase. Thomas only says Mama when he hurts something and seems ok when I go somewhere (which is really extremely rare-I don't get out much). Hud- pretty much all the time.

On another random note, lots of teething going on here. Thomas now has 8 teeth!! 4 top and 4 bottom. Hud is dragging up the rear with a total of 4.

Yummy Recipe the kiddos will love!

I saw this recipe on a friends blog here. It's super quick and easy so I thought I would give it a try. I tweaked the recipe a little bit and I think overall it was a success. My boys loved it!! Warning though- this is not a healthy request recipe. : ) Of course you can choose healthier alternatives like skim milk etc...

Chicken Pot Pie

1 can cream of potato soup

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 15 oz can veg-all (mixed veggies)-drained

2 c cooked chicken (I used a Rotisserie Chicken from the Deli- shredded)

1/2 c milk (I used whole)

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp celery salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/3 c butter

2 pre-made pie crusts (they come in a box of 2)

Lay one pie crust in pie pan and press in. Mix all ingredients together and spoon into pie crust. Cover with the 2nd crust and press edges down either with a fork or fingers. Cut 4 slits in the top.

Bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
