My Angel

The last few weeks have been really busy for the Lashlee household. As most of you know from my last post... I now have a job. Wooo Hooo! I not only have a job, but I love it! My boss is such a great person to work for. She is very business savvy and was a nurse for 25 years prior to opening her medi-spa. She is brilliant and so knowledgeable on skin and genuinely cares about people. (I do love and miss my last boss though.) As the Marketing/Advertising Director, here are the things I have been working on. I am starting a monthly newsletter that has 3 different sections... The Buzz, The Rage and The Scoop. The Buzz will have upcoming events and promotions. The Rage will have the latest trends on makeup for the season and The Scoop is going to be a different Skincare/Health care topic each month. Basically I am an editor as well!! I am also working on starting a blog for them (which takes forever!) but once it is up and running, I thought it would be neat to allow all workers to get on and post videos/pics or just an entry for that day. With Spa's being a luxury, it is a little slow right now, so you have to think of newer, smarter, and better ideas to get capture the attention of people. If you have any cool ideas... let me know!! : )

This weekend we had several top recruits in, so Rhett has been pretty busy with that. We all went to the softballs fields today and had lunch and watched the players play softball and have eating contests... that was pretty gross.. I about yakked while watching them eat massive coconut pie/cakes. Not as close as they were though.. : )

Another thing going on is Nana ( Rhett's grandmother) is really sick. To go back a little, Rhett has always told me that his grandparents were like the couple on The Notebook. Needless to say, Rhett bawled through the movie... hehe. He would kill me if he knew I was saying this... : ) Back to the story, Rhett's junior year of high school, Pops passed away. That was really hard on him because it was sudden and unexpected and he was extremely close to him. Nana, shortly after his death, had a blood clot go straight to her heart. She ended up dying on the table for about 10 min. They somehow miraculously brought her back, and only by a miracle of God, none of her organs were poisened. After she came back from it, she wasn't the same. They say she has Alzheimer's, but Rhett thinks she is still in there somewhere. Just stuck in a shell. I truly believe that a part of her died when Pop's died. A couple weeks ago she had a mini-stroke and was put in the Hospital in Little Rock. She has been up and down, but they are saying that she probably won't make it much longer. This is a bittersweet situation because we will miss her and Judy is having a hard time, but at the same time, I know Nana is ready to be with Pops. She has been ready since he left. He is waiting in Heaven for his "Angel".

One story about them, I'll make it short.. Rhett showed Pops a picture of he, Pops and Nana. After he look at the picture, Pops asked Rhett, "Who is the standing next to you". Rhett answered, " Well Pops, that's Nana." And his response was, "No son, that's an Angel." That story brings tears to my eyes every time I think of it. When Rhett and I got married, he didn't show me my wedding band until the day of our wedding. After he put it on my finger, I walked out of the sanctuary took it off to read the inscription.. it read "My Angel".

We are going to fly home early in the morning to see Nana.. probably for the last time. I am praying that she goes quickly and peacefully. She has been through a lot in the last week.

I also wear the diamond that Pops gave to Nana many years ago. Someday it will be passed down and the same stories will be told.

I GOT A JOB!!!!

The wait is over... I can finally take a breath and relax. I posted a few weeks ago about a possible job at an orthodontist clinic, and I am so glad that it was a flop. I never really finished the story with that, but basically they jerked me around for several weeks and then offered me a different position than what I was interviewing for. It was really frustrating at the time, but now I see that God TOTALLY protected me. Jonna Chizik (the head coaches wife at Auburn) told me about a spa here in Auburn called "Spa Auburn" go figure- ha. Anyway, she told me to go talk to the owner and at the time Judy was here (mother-in-law) so I didn't jump on the opportunity. A couple days later Jonna called me and said that she was with the owner, Lea Ann, and that she wanted to talk to me. Long story short, I went in and talked with her and she was looking for someone exactly like me... Someone who could take on the Marketing/Advertising and head up the makeup line they have. This is right up my ally since I have a Marketing degree and have experience in that area as well as makeup... SOOO I am really excited and relieved. Spa Auburn is a Medical Spa- they have anything and everything you could ever want. Facials, Massages, Mani/Pedis, Laser Treatments, Botox...etc. (And to the dermatologist who told me I needed botox....no.. I will not be doing Botox nor do I ever plan on doing Botox HA!) They also have a plastic surgeon come in every other Monday to do those procedures as well as other intensive procedures. The part about it that I get to wear scrubs! I went to get some today and found out that they make Greys Anatomy scrubs now... I will be scrubbin' in style!!

I know there are a lot of people without jobs right now, so I just want to encourage you that in God's timing and provision, it will work out. Just know that the Lord has HIS perfect plan (not our own), and HIS perfect timing..... for everything. I can look back now and say that I see where he protected me and also kept me from taking a job where he couldn't use me to his fullest. I am officially the Marketing Director/Makeup Artist at Spa Auburn! YEAH! I start next Tuesday! I have attached a few pics for those of you who want to see where I will be working! : ) If you want to see more visit www.spaauburn.com Check out Cindalee's things... really great idea!!

Atlanta

This past Tuesday, Rhett and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary. Rhett took me to Atlanta for the weekend to celebrate! It's only an hour and a half away so it's a great place to get away for the weekend. We had dinner at the Melting Pot the first night which is one of my favorites. On Saturday we went to the aquarium which was absolutely amazing!! I have decided that if I could do it all again.. I would have worked with animals somehow. I know that sounds crazy, but I think I would have loved interacting with them on a daily basis. Training, caring for..etc. I have always had such a tender heart towards animals, as do most women, but I think I would have enjoyed the not so pretty aspects of it as well. Hopefully someday we will have horses... that's my dream anyway. Anywho... random and WAY off the subject... we ended the day with shopping and then the BEST dinner I have ever had!!! We went to a place called Chops and Lobster Bar. The downstairs is the Lobster Bar and upstairs is Chops. They have the same menu, but the atmosphere is very different. The Lobster bar has a more dressy feel and has an actual bar where you can eat just lobster. The architectural design and decor is amazing. Chops is a louder, more casual atmosphere- kind of a bar-ish feel. We ate in the Lobster bar but at a table. I had the best steak that has ever touched my lips.... hahaha.... no but seriously, it was amazing.. The sides were also amazing. Corn Mash was one of them... they take fresh corn and baked it for several hours in butter and then mash it. It's heavenly. The other side was some sort of potato concoction. Of course it all rested on the dessert.......... We couldn't choose so we went with both the Creme Brulee AND their White Chocolate Banana Creme Pie.... WOW!! Both were incredible. That's enough about food.. I managed to take a few pics from the Aquarium. Enjoy..

The Jelly Fish were incredible

A-Day and the past 2 weeks

Phil and Judy (Rhett's parents) came on the 14th to visit and watch a couple practices. Even though Rhett was working most of the time, we loved getting to spend time with them. Juju and I were able to go to Atlanta for the day to shop. There are a few cute boutiques in Auburn, but Atlanta is sooooo fun and has great shopping! I love that we are only 1 hour and 45 min away. They were also here to see the spring scrimmage... also known as A-Day. 45,000+ people showed up, so it was a really good turnout!! This town cares about one thing and one thing alone... AUBURN FOOTBALL. I have never seen a school with this much tradition and support from their town. I can't wait for the season to get here!! Here are a few pics from A-Day.

A Great Reminder

My father-in-law, "Poppy" as the grandkids say, sent this video to me the other day and it was such a great reminder to me. Never forget that everyday is a gift... it's the little things that we forget... like being able to take our next breath. This video is a little cheesy, but still brought tears to my eyes. We get so caught up in life sometimes that we forget what is really important...

Wall of Pictures...

My new love is photography. I got a new camera for Christmas and I am totally obsessed with it. Right after we moved in, I decided that I wanted to do a wall of pictures up our stairs.. pics that I have taken, and do all black and white photos, use black frames that are different shapes and sizes... Here are the pics that I have come up with so far. I have taken all of these except the one from our wedding with our hands... I can't decide what theme I want to do. Most of them are of different places that we have been to- one from San Francisco, a couple from South Carolina, Chicago, AR Ice Storm-ha, Auburn AL :) I know.. such a tourist attraction, and a couple random abstract pics. So I guess I could do different places..? I have some pics from other places as well like, Cabo, Hawaii etc... and I could boot the abstract pics.?? Or I could just keep it totally random with the ones I have. Anyone have any ideas?
